On Tuesday, Oct. 19, the Irvington Union Free School District released the results of more than 500 students and staff members who were tested for COVID-19 late last week, all of which were negative for the virus.
Moving forward, beginning on Thursday, Oct. 21, the district will begin its first round of surveillance testing, which will include the testing of 20 percent of those who consented to the program.
Anyone tested on Thursday will be chosen at random, school officials announced. Surveillance testing will continue each Thursday thereafter, with emails being sent to students’ parents and staff members to inform them of their appointments.
“The district extends its appreciation to everyone who participated, as it provided insight into the health of our school community,” officials said. “Individuals chosen to participate will be emailed in advance of the testing date.”
